Whether you are exploring the nearby parks or enjoying a leisurely lunch, your dog is part of the experience.
Local dog walks worth exploring
1. Hagley Park & Botanic Gardens (2-5min walk). Off-lead allowed in most areas of Hagley Park - ideal for a sniff and run.
2. Margaret Mahy Playground & Avon River Walk (10-15 min walk). Leads required, but the riverside views, art, and food trucks make for a great outing.
3. Riccarton Bush / Pūtaringamotu (10 min drive). Dogs aren't allowed in the native bush reserve, but you can enjoy the surrounding park grounds and Riccarton House area. On Saturday markets, dogs are requested to be tied up outside the busy stall area.
4. Travis Wetland Nature Heritage Park (15-20 min drive). Leashed dogs are welcome on a peaceful 4km loop track with boardwalks and birdlife.
5. Bottle Lake Forest Park (20 min drive). Off-lead allowed in forested areas (unless signposted otherwise). Great for longer walks or trail runs.
